Ashley London polyurethane products are easily installed by most skilled craftsmen that follow these installation instructions:

Molding Installation Tips

  • Mark ceiling and/or wall with lines indicating the projection edges of molding

  • Cut and dry fit leaving 1/8” extra on each 8’ length for a compression fit

  • Start at less noticeable inside corner or most conspicuous outside corner

  • Miter corners and use butt-joints for straight joints

  • Check each piece for thickness as some variation may occur

  • To make any adjustments either sand, shim or plane off the back of molding

  • Ensure surfaces are clean and free of any foreign objects

  • Apply 1/4” bead of PL premium along bedding edges that touch the ceiling and walls

  • Check that cut ends have ample adhesive to cover entire surface

  • Mark wall 1/8” less than molding length, place end at start point and secure

  • Pull out center of molding until opposite end lines up with mark on wall

  • Secure end and push center in and allow to “snap” into place

  • Attach with non-corrosive mechanical fasteners (screws or finishing nails) at 16” centers or less

  • Large moldings or built-up moldings may need blocking

  • Remove excess adhesive immediately as once it is cured you will need to remove it mechanically

  • Remove or trim any shims after adhesive has set

  • Once cured, caulk and fill screw/nail holes and any voids or deviations with a non-shrinking, paintable filler

  • Sand and prime/paint as necessary with a quality latex or oil based paint

Medallion Installation Tips

  • Turn off power to light at breaker panel or fuse box and carefully remove fixture

  • If using light fixture, cut hole in center of medallion

  • Center hole in medallion over the ceiling electrical box

  • Draw a line around medallion and mark screw hole positions lightly with a pencil

  • Apply 1/4” – 1/2” bead of PL adhesive to the outside edge of the back of medallion

  • Press medallion to ceiling, aligning it to marked guidelines and secure with screws

  • Fill holes with non-shrinking, paintable filler and apply caulking to outer rim of medallion, then smooth with finger or damp sponge

  • When dry, paint with a quality latex or oil-based paint and re-attach light fitting

Niche Installation Tips

  • Niches are made to fit in the empty space between wall studs

  • Wall studs are normally spaced at either 16” or 24” on center

  • To avoid framing, purchase a niche to fit your particular stud spacing

  • Use a stud finder that also checks for ducting, pipes and wiring

  • Cut a rough opening in the wallboard using a knife or saw

  • Apply PL adhesive to the wallboard and mount niche in the opening

  • Screw in place, wipe off excess adhesive, caulk around perimeter, fill holes, let dry

Decorative Installation Tips

  • Mark position of decorative item before applying adhesive

  • Apply a thin bead of PL adhesive to outside edge of the back of the accent

  • Press in position, aligning it to marked guidelines and secure with screws

  • Fill holes with non-shrinking, paintable filler and apply caulking to outer edge, then smooth with finger or damp sponge

  • When dry, paint with a quality latex or oil-based paint
