STORAGE TEMPERATURE
As with most building materials, rigid
polyurethane foam products are subject to expansion and contraction
with any significant temperature changes. Polyurethane millwork that
has been stored in a “hot” area must also be allowed to acclimatize
to the installation area temperature for over 48 hours.
ADHESIVE REQUIREMENTS
Polyurethane millwork must be installed
tightly using PL premium and non-corrosive mechanical fasteners.
Copious amounts of PL premium adhesive must be applied on all bedding
edges and joints.
PREPARATION
All surfaces should be sound, clean,
dry and free of all dirt, loose particles, oil, grease, paint or any
other substance that may affect adhesion. Polyurethane should not be
installed over wallpaper as the adhesive may separate or stain the
wallpaper.
CUTTING
Moldings should be mitered for inside
and outside corners and compression butt-joints used for straight
applications. Compression joints are achieved by cutting the molding
1/8” longer than needed and “springing” the molding into place.
FITTING
We recommend that the entire project is
cut and dry fit before applying any adhesive. Begin in the least
noticeable inside corner and work around the room, matching the
pattern at each joint and corner. Please note that it may not be
possible to match the pattern in the last corner.
APPLYING PAINTS & FINISHES
All products are shipped in white. Ashley London polyurethane products
require no sanding, priming or sealing. You can apply your choice of
latex or oil based paint, or for a more luxurious look, you can use a
decorative finish such as gold leaf, stain, glaze or a faux finish
like sponging, stippling, leather or suede.
